Today, Marvel.com announced the new and returning actors for Thor: Ragnarok (article here). And I was disappointed but not really surprised to see that Jaimie was not part of that list… However, Jaimie tweeted something veryyy interesting a few minutes later. I really hope it means we will see her playing Lady Sif again !

Hi guys! Sorry for the lack of updates, I’ve been very busy lately but I’ll do my best to catch up! I’m starting with a bad news for every Lady Sif fans as Jaimie Alexander said during a Facebook Q&A that she had no idea if she will appear in Thor: Ragnarok.
Unlike the previous two Thor movies, Thor: Ragnarok will spend less time on Earth and broaden its scope to other areas of the Nine Realms. This, of course, includes Thor’s homeward Asgard, where we’re expected to reunite with several of Thor’s people. Actress Jaimie Alexander mentioned last year that her character, Lady Sif, would be one of the Asgardians returning, but now she’s not so sure.
During her video Facebook Q&A yesterday, one viewer asked Jaimie Alexander if Sif will have any kind of role in Thor: Ragnarok. This was her response:
Am I in Thor 3? I get asked that every time I do this! I actually don’t know. I have no idea. I’m guessing no? But I’m not sure, because nobody’s told me. I have no clue.
This is a turnaround from when Jaimie Alexander said last year that she’d definitely be in Thor: Ragnarok, and that Sif would have a “pivotal role.” Either she’s just playing coy with the fans or her status with the movie somehow changed in the last nine months. The blockbuster did hire a new writer last December, so perhaps the story changed enough that Sif no longer had a part. With principal photography kicking off in Australia this June, she’ll will find out one way or another if she’s participating.
Jaimie Alexanxer talked about Thor: Ragnarok to ComicBookMovie.Com and it might not be good news for Lady Sif fans!
As Sif, Alexander has made a hell of an impression in both Thor and Thor: The Dark World, as well as a pair of episodes of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. The big question, of course, is whether or not she will be appearing in 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok. It seems that the actress, currently starring in NBC’s Blindspot, is as in the dark as the fans are.
“I am not 100% sure at this moment,” she admits. “I know that they’re changing things with the script and that sort of thing, so I am literally in limbo. I know probably less than you do about it. I would love to do it, but wheether or not it’s going to work on my short hiatus from Blindspot I’m not sure. There could be a lot of factors when it comes to that decision.”
We finally have some news about Thor: Ragnarok thanks to MovieWeb.Com!
Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok, the third instalment of the Marvel Studios’ franchise starring Australia’s Chris Hemsworth as the hammer-wielding comic book Super Hero, has today been confirmed to start pre-production in Queensland in January 2016 with filming to begin in June 2016. Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk met with Marvel executives in June in Los Angeles and, through Screen Queensland, worked tirelessly to ensure Queensland was the production destination of choice. Here’s what Annastacia Palaszczuk had to say in a statement about Thor: Ragnarok filming in Australia.
“This is a huge win for Queensland and I am thrilled that Thor will be filming exclusively in our state. As our economy diversifies, Queensland is demonstrating its strength as a lead destination for filmmakers both internationally and locally, and my government is doing what it can to ensure that Queensland remains a global hub for the screen sector. The production will spend more than $100 million AUD in Queensland and will employ over 750 Queensland crew.”
The studio will film at many locations throughout Queensland including scenes at Village Roadshow Studios at the Gold Coast. The first two films in the Thor series– Thor, released in 2011, and Thor: The Dark World, released in 2013 — earned more than $1 billion USD at the global box office. Disney has slated a November 3, 2017 U.S. release date for Thor: Ragnarok. Here’s what Louis D’Esposito, Co-President of Marvel Studios, had to say in his statement.
“Queensland offers an amazing and diverse backdrop for Thor: Ragnarok and we are very excited to bring this film to such an incredible locale. Marvel Studios would like to thank the Queensland Government for helping to make this a reality.”
Taika Waititi is directing Thor: Ragnarok from a script by Christopher Yost and Craig Kyle. Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston are reprising their roles as Thor and Loki, and we reported last week that Mark Ruffalo is in talks to reprise his role as Hulk. We’ll keep you posted with more updates on Thor: Ragnarok as we get closer to production starting in Australia.
Thor: Ragnarok comes to theaters November 3rd, 2017.
